Coffee Patrol was an experimental hospitality and mobility project developed to explore how a compact electric vehicle could become a fully functioning mobile café.

Working with Vega, Excello led the complete conversion of a Vega ETX electric tuk-tuk into a purpose-built coffee service unit for Coffee Patrol. The project brought together vehicle adaptation, interior planning, fabrication, equipment coordination and operational design within the tight spatial limits of a three-wheeler.

The challenge was not simply to place coffee equipment inside a vehicle. The tuk-tuk had to be transformed into a practical, safe and recognisable café environment while preserving the compact character and electric identity of the original vehicle.

Every part of the interior was planned around the movement of the barista, the positioning of equipment, storage requirements, service access and customer interaction. The layout was designed to support a small operating team and a practical service volume of approximately 50–100 cups per day.

The conversion included dedicated working surfaces, coffee equipment, storage, service openings and electrical coordination for the mobile café operation. The project also explored how an electric platform could support a more sustainable and adaptable model for small-scale hospitality.

Coffee Patrol was designed as a working prototype rather than a conventional fit-out. It tested the possibilities of mobile food and beverage operations in Sri Lanka, showing how an electric tuk-tuk could become a moving brand experience and a functional point of service.

The project was completed through close collaboration between Coffee Patrol, Vega and the supporting technical partners.
